Blue Wave

This species is an excellent example of sexual dimorphism in butterflies: males have very bright colours which allows them to be recognised by females and other males (as they are territorial). Females are less colourful. With closed wings, both sexes exhibit a cryptic colouration to avoid being spotted by predators.
