Brown rhinoceros beetle

If grasped, this beetle is able to emit a shrill sound produced by the rubbing between the thorax and the abdomen, to intimidate predators. Only the male has got horns, used to compete with other males. The female, smaller than the male, remains hidden most of the time in a den that she digs into the ground.
