This large species spend its days in burrows in the ground, and it only comes out at night, to hunt and eat insects and small vertebrates. Like all spiders it is venomous and injects venom into prey by two strong tusks (chelicerae). It also has stinging hairs on the back of the body, and it “throws” them against the aggressors, using the legs.
