It is also called a “fragrant stick” because if bothered it produces a deterrent odor, which is intended to ward off predators. It has a peculiar reproduction system: the female manages to reproduce even if she does not meet any male. To this end it produces “special” eggs which will give rise to female daughters identical to the mother. A type of cloning called parthenogenesis.
