Suraka Silk Moth

The Antherina suraka belongs to the Saturniidae family of moths, which includes the largest existing moths. In butterfly houses you can see several species belonging to this family, which do not fly during the day due to their nocturnal habits. Many species, when threatened, intimidate predators by raising their forewings to reveal the large eyespots on the hindwings.
